Just west of Horseshoe Lake lies Lincoln Heights Elementary, a magnet school for preschool through fifth grade in rural Kent County. The school is part of the Greenville Public School District, which strongly emphasizes science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, to promote a passion for these crucial academic topics. Student clubs, including Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Running Club, help kids stay active and participate in community service opportunities. Every month, Lincoln Heights Elementary hosts a Big Idea Experience assembly to create a positive environment and discuss character-building topics. Several special programs at Lincoln Heights Elementary are intended to get kids excited about future possibilities. In second grade, students visit a college campus, an opportunity not usually afforded to children at that age. In fourth grade, students spend a week in Zoo School at John Ball Zoo and get hands-on instruction. This experiential learning helps students see how the topics they are studying are used beyond the classroom. Community mentorships and the Children’s Corner after-school program offer enrichment outside school hours. Parents and community members are encouraged to volunteer at this welcoming elementary school near the beautiful chain of lakes in eastern Kent County.

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

The teachers have been amazing and loving to both of them- they take their time to explain subjects/topics so the boys understand, never in a way to embarrass or ostracize, and alway...

Staff really care about students and go above and beyond to meet their needs. Kids represent the school well when off campus and have complements from guest speakers. Curriculum and assessments drive instruction. Staff is much like a family to each other and families. The principal gets results fast...
