GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Sparkman High School is a good public school. Has good teachers and lots of sports and activities to do and be involved in.

As an alum of SHS, I can now say that my overall experience was good. The teachers, portion of the student body I was able to interact with, and school spirit were all things that made high school worth while. I felt safe with the many systems they had in place in case of an emergency. If you're an arts person or want to learn another language, I HIGHLY recommend doing so. The teachers in that department are great at what they do.

In terms of college preparation I feel like it could be better. The only times any of my teachers have mentioned anything about college have been in my AP or honors classes. I feel like teachers who don't teach AP or honors classes could take more time to talk to their students about college.

The school's administration does not provide a safe environment for the children nor do they care about the well-being of individual students. They will mistreat a child or make them seem like a problem because they have a mental health issue.

Sparkman High School has wonderful teachers that are willing to go above and beyond for their students.

My child graduated from Sparkman four years ago. Four years later he has graduated from college with honors. Many of his classmates from Sparkman have done the same thing. Success after high school is not the only way to evaluate a high school, but in this case, Sparkman seems to have done a very go...
