Nevada State High School is a tuition-free, public charter school for juniors and seniors in the Gibson Springs neighborhood. It offers a unique curriculum that allows students to earn both high school and college credits. Founded in 2004, the school serves students with innovative technology and modern resources. Boasting better than a 95 percent graduation rate, Nevada State High School has been named one of Newsweek’s top 100 schools in the country. On average, students earn at least 50 college credits in their two years at the institution. Students also achieve a median ACT score of 21.6, well above Nevada’s 17.5 average in 2018. Those attending Nevada State High School can participate in college clubs and activities. Students interested in playing organized sports are free to join teams at the school they are zoned for in the Clark County School District. Many activities and social events are offered directly through the charter school as well, including field trips, movie nights, a student government, and a yearbook committee. To help ensure students develop well-rounded interests and strong resumes, volunteer work in the community or with one of the school’s clubs is required. This is yet another attribute that distinguishes Nevada State High School from others in the community. Graduates leave with not only their diplomas, but a head start on college degrees.

Nevada State High School is a fabulous way to get a jumpstart towards my college degree. In this high school you take college classes towards your high school and college credits which helps boost your high school GPA. They also have helped me in the applications process and scholarship applications. So far I have also learned about FAFSA which helps prepare me for when that opens up.
