GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My four years at Hickory High were great. I was able to be a member of the cheerleading squad for 3 years and I enjoyed getting to meet the lifelong friends I have. A high school friend of mine and myself are currently both enrolled in college together and plan on rooming together next year.

My experience as a student at Hickory High was good, the support of some teachers was really impressive. Those teacher would motivate and help you be a better person and successful in class.

these last four years have made me feel at home. The teachers and staff always giving me a warm welcome as I set foot in my highschool. The teachers giving their all to help a student pass or understand a course. Coaches never favorited any athletes and always treated everyone equally with respect. One thing I would change is the salad bar they got rid of my freshmen year. It was a very healthy option for students to eat during lunch and should come back for good nutrition for the students.

As a parent of two students who have gone through Hickory High School, I am saddened to say that I am very disappointed with the education that my second child has received. It's as if some of the teachers there do not care whether the students understand the material or not. The state needs to revi...

The administration does not care about its students unless they are basketball or football players or unless the have money. I was bullied non stop and they would listen and when they finally did and expelled the kid but the moment they found out I was gonna transfer they quickly decided to let him...

2012-2013 was a new year for Hickory High! The new administrative team, faculty and staff restructured and reorganized the entire school! The 2013-14-school environment is structured to support a rigorous academic program, state champion athletic program and the some of the counties finest art initi...

Excellent teachers will only be found in the honors classes - the new principal seems to only be after his "personal" agenda. The students never see him at school. Leadership seems to magnify the students with minor homework/dress issues and overlook drugs and bullies. Academic programs and clubs ar...
