Alief Early College High School is a top-rated high school located in Houston’s Westchase District. An Alief Independent School District magnet campus, AECHS offers students an unparalleled opportunity to simultaneously earn their high school diploma and either an associate’s degree or up to 60 hours from Houston Community College. Established in 2009 through a grant from the Texas Education Agency, Alief Early College High School shares a location with Houston Community College’s Alief Hayes campus at 2811 Hayes Road. AECHS enrolls about 412 students, and the school mascot is the knights. All students are welcome to apply to AECHS, and enrollment is conducted via a lottery system that preferences students who are underrepresented at colleges or universities or who would otherwise be first-generation college students. Alief Early College High School prides itself on the school’s high standards, academic rigor and small class sizes. Outside of the classroom, students can get involved in clubs and extracurricular activities, participate in robotics and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities and even volunteer work outside in and around the community. Clubs include a nationally-recognized speech and debate team and Future Business Leaders of America, one of the largest student organizations in the country.

AECHS has made a great impact on me. From being reserved to extrovert, I can say this is one of the most amazing things that happened to me because it prepared me for my future success. Though the worst part of the experience would be freshmen students, I understand that they just transitioned from middle school to high school, but they really should change how they treat one another and protect the school environment.

Amazing school. You get to have both the college and high school experience. The school is very academics centered so the school spirit in regards to things like sports is not very strong. 5 star school, it set me up for success. Every teacher and staff there all try their hardest to allow students to succeed.

AECHS is truly amazing. The school is very rigorous and will definitely prepare each and every student for college. Since it is a relatively small school, we get to know our peers very well. The teachers and staff are very friendly and try their best In helping you.
