Like all of the Meyerland elementary schools operated by the Houston Independent School District, Elrod Elementary School houses a magnet program. Elrod’s school-wide Emerging Medical Scholars Magnet program provides students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade with hands-on research opportunities to learn about medical topics. Beside the standard Houston Independent School District curriculum, Elrod’s 750-plus Rising Stars participate in weekly science labs and health classes. Located at 6230 Dumfries Dr., Horace W. Elrod Elementary School was named after a long-time principal in the Houston school district and opened in 1964 as a math and science magnet school. The school maintains its academic excellence with the medical magnet and dual-language programs. The dual-language program allows interested students to learn a second language by being taught in both English and Spanish. Students keep their first language and all the customs and traditions associated with it while becoming fluent in a second language.

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Will be looking for a different school very soon. It's more than evident people are here to protect their job and reputation, not the children.
