GreatSchools Rating

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I must admit, one of the worst things about Furr High School isn't even the school itself, it's the school district. HISD has turned Furr and many other schools into almost like a prison. Mike Miles has ruined the thriving school experience that I once enjoyed.

The admin were absolutely terrible. During class transitions, they would just yell on all three floors. It sounded like a prison.

I think that the school has both positive and negative factors to it that impacts my overall review. The best part is that teachers and students are able to make strong connections that make going to school more fun and engaging. The worst part is that the administration has strict rules that stop the creativity in our learning. If I could change something it would be the way students are forced to stop expressing themselves and are confined to stern learning material.

My husband and myself graduated from this school as well as his sister and my four siblings. My son just started this school year there and he loves it. I too, see students walking away from campus right around 8:50 am toward the park. They have no shame, but they will years from now when they can't...
