The 950 students at Hearne Elementary are learning today and leading tomorrow. Located at 13929 Rio Bonito Rd., the school opened in 1987 as Alief Independent School District’s 15th elementary school. Overall, Hearne Huskies are doing quite well academically as their test scores are above the state average. The school's success may be due to its active parent, guardian and community participation. Like other Alief schools, Hearne has a Community in Schools program. Although the Community in Schools program hasn't recovered to pre-pandemic levels, volunteers assist teachers and staff during the school day. Since the Alief Independent School District now offers full-day pre-kindergarten, Hearne is one of the elementary schools that only goes up to fourth grade. Alief’s purposeful-play pre-kindergarten is free for all students who qualify. If you’d Like your child to attend pre-kindergarten but don't meet requirements for free entry, you can pay a reasonable 10-month tuition fee to secure a spot. One thing to note is that, due to the program’s popularity, applying in advance is highly recommended.

Principal always sides with the parents. He won't back you up. Even when parents are wrong they are right.

My sons attend there and he loves it there. His teacher truly cares about him. His father recently passed and it s good to know that he has support at school.
