Home of the Hummingbirds, Holmquist Elementary opened in 2007 with halls decorated in the school colors of light blue and yellow. This highly regarded institution is a public school located in the Briar Village neighborhood of Houston, Texas. The school is named after David Holmquist, who worked 29 years for the Alief Independent School District. Holmquist held various titles such as football coach, business educator and coordinating principal. The school is proud to offer a variety of academics and extracurriculars to help students discover their interest and talents. Those interested in academics can apply for Gifted and Talented services at this Alief ISD's elementary school. With multiple playgrounds available, Holmquist has a large outdoor area for students to enjoy. Students at Holmquist Elementary can take advantage of various programs offered by Alief ISD, while music classes are provided to help young learners engage their more creative sides. In addition, basketball camps, health events, book fairs and other events are held at Holmquist Elementary throughout the school year. Students at the elementary school can participate in Alief 1:1 Student Device Program. Using this program, students in the third through twelfth grades can learn, collaborate and develop skills using digital devices.

This new administration cares less of the kids. My daughter was constantly bullied on the bus and inside the classroom too. I reported the situation to Ms. Toney, the principal. I have three kids at this school and never had a single problem. Holmquist is their second home. The affection and positive energy the staff gives to every student from the front door till the classroom have a magical impact. The principal is also excellent

It is a good for my children but far from us and I met problems in the school site registeration

This school has a nice appearance, but the staff lacks the ability to control the students. My daughter was being bullied, after meeting with Ms. Desauto her staff began to constantly write up my daughter and call me complaining about her on a weekly basis.
