GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

The best part about going to school at PVA is that I have gotten out of my shell and that I have meet people who are also passionate about their art One thing that hasn't been a good experience for me is that not every student has a mature mindset and it starts to disrupt my studies at times.

The teachers care deeply about the kids and making sure you learn. Administration cares about kids education and you are treated with trust and freedom until proven otherwise. Kids are competitive but overall a great education and exxpierience.

HSPVA allowed for my child to flourish not only in her art area, but as a human being. The lessons learned and relationships created at this school will last her a life time. Octopus is the best school mascot tehehehe

Some of the visual arts teachers are wack but the good ones made me want to stay.

Some great teachers, some awful teachers. I found the principal to be the worst, most unsympathetic "advocate" for the students.

Irritated and annoyed that HSPVA did not plan an alternative to making their Juniors take the SAT in the middle of all the neighborhood construction. The SAT is a major college admission determining factor and the students had to take it with construction noises all around during the entire test tim...

Just a few comments from an old alum. The school is not for everyone (kids or parents) but it is a decent school. Be prepared to suffer through the trials that your kid will experience such as extreme competition, immediate shock to self-esteem within the first year, constant schedule juggling, prim...
