Founded in 1989 as a preschool and kindergarten, Presbyterian School has grown incredibly since it first opened its doors to students. Now serving prekindergarten through eighth grade, the school’s main campus on Oakdale Street sits just across from the affiliated First Presbyterian Church of Houston. Middle school students attend classes at the Lancaster Center. Educating children in an environment that integrates academics and faith is the cornerstone of the Presbyterian School’s mission. Through active, project-based learning and fieldwork, students gain a strong understanding of STEAM topics, which include science, technology, engineering, art and math. In 2008, the school opened an additional Outdoor Education Campus south of the Texas Medical Center. The 14-acre campus features fields for sports, garden areas to learn about conservation and the environment and an outdoor chapel for spiritual practice. The school’s location in the heart of Houston’s Museum District exponentially expands its students’ learning and engagement. Through partnerships with nearby Rice University, the Texas Medical Center and the district’s many museums, the Presbyterian School provides students with opportunities to develop their creativity and curiosity by tapping into the rich resources around them. Small class sizes ensure that all students can receive additional help from their teachers if needed. With competitive sports and world-champion Odyssey of the Mind teams, Presbyterian School offers academic enrichment that helps students of all ages thrive.

My son has been attending this school for two years. I am consistently impressed with the engagement from the headmaster. He knows everyone's names and makes everyone feel welcome. The school is academically challenging and does a great job of engaging the children. Outstanding environment and very down to earth.

Presbyterian School is one of the most down to earth places I've ever seen. My child has been attending that school for over 4 years now, and I strongly believe that Presbyterian School has shaped him into the hard-working, patient, and kind boy he is today. 10/10 recommend this wonderful place.

The school has potential to be excellent, but as of now they are average. Some of the faculty and administration in the lower school need to be more educated and update their knowledge. Curriculum and expectations are outdated for young children. Things should not be the same as they were in 2001 or...

We are very happy here and will also be sending our second child to PS in the coming years. I feel that there is as much emphasis on character as these is on academics and I think this will be hugely beneficial to my child’s long term success and well-being.

We’ve been really pleased with the school so far! The new / renovated facilities is really well done, and the families are all very nice and down to earth. You’ll find a mix of oil & gas and finance executives working downtown, Rice professors, medical center doctors and local old money Houstonians...

Such an amazing place with incredible, loving teachers and wonderful, supportive parents. As an admissions counselor at one of the top private high schools in the city, I can confidently said that children who come from this school are well rounded, personable, can communicate their thoughts and fee...
