The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
The Test Score Rating reflects annual state test results for this school compared with scores statewide.

The school it self looks better nice and clean until you take a look close you will see holes in the walls and ac not working at times. There was always been a lot of fight that the admins them don't care about and it concerns everyone's safety. The school admins are firing all of the fun teacher and paying non certified teachers to teache classes. Over all not a good school at all.

I've been a student in Sam Houston MSTC since 11th grade, my experience there has been great, all the teachers are really nice and hard working. Something I would suggest them to do is to encourage more school spirit and the creation of more clubs to keep students engaged and motivated.

The experience was typical low income school. The school spirit was always low, each year the school would try to bring up the school spirit it always failed.

This school is horrible. I withdrew my daughter after her schedule was changed 4 different times. They could never explain why, and when I demanded to meet with the principal, she never had time. She's always too busy to meet with anybody. They have a lot of discipline problems and they just don't c...

in general Sam Houston isn't as bad as everyone says it is. We have teachers that care about our education and want us to go to college. We have the "Go Center" that provides information for us to go to college. They also help us so that we can take out SAT without having to pay. We should get recog...
