Opened in 1906 by a Dominican nun, St. Agnes Academy first operated as a boarding school. After becoming a high school in 1952, the school moved to its current address on Bellaire Boulevard in 1963. St. Agnes Academy is an all-girls high school and sits directly next door to the all-boy Strake Jesuit College Preparatory Academy. The two schools hold occasional joint classes, including choir and band, and St. Agnes uses Strake Jesuit’s large swimming pool for water sports practice and competitions. Students at St. Agnes Academy must take theology, English, math, science, history and world languages. Electives allow students to pursue topics that interest them or dig deeper into core subjects, and most students will also participate in a community service project before graduation. Like everything at St. Agnes, the curriculum is designed to help students prepare for college and leave with a well-rounded education. Sports are a big part of St. Agnes Academy, and the school has earned over 100 state athletic titles competing against some of the best private and public schools in the state. More than half of the St. Agnes student body is involved in at least one of the school’s 36 teams. Sports include cross-country, field hockey, volleyball, water polo, diving and soccer. The school also encourages experience in fine arts with several extracurricular activities, including band, music, orchestra and theater.

Having gone to public school my whole life, there was a real shock when I came to st.agnes. People care about the school and each other and the teachers are actually great and care about you and want you to do well. The school itself is gorgeous and the food is so good.

I love that St. Agnes tries really hard to include all of the girls in the school and really makes it a sisterhood. It was a hard adjustment coming into a private school from a public school. Freshman year was hard, but I felt completely supported and felt that my teachers cared about my education.

Loved every minute. The atmosphere is welcoming and they really build up their students as independent women.

St. Agnes Academy preys on your downfall. The administration is not in control of their staff and are blind to utter disrespect shown by certain teachers towards students. They purposely hinder student’s GPA’s by establishing AP classes that are worth less points for absolutely no reason. Although t...

ACADEMICALLY SOLID IN CORE SUBJECTS. CULTURALLY, PUSHING FOR SOCIALIST AGENDA. MY DAUGHTER AND I ARE PERMANENTLY AT ODD. THOUGHT SHE WOULD BE TAUGHT MORAL CLARITY OF CONSERVATIVE CATHOLIC PRINCIPLES. BOY, I WAS WRONG.
