St. Mark’s Episcopal seeks to inspire its students using modern-day learning tools. Part of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, the institution provides exemplary education to its 465 students from preschool to eighth grade. To accommodate the diverse age groups, the school has three divisions: Primary School for preschool through kindergarten, Lower School for grades first through fourth, and Middle School for grades fifth through eighth. The campus spans four buildings that include science labs, computer labs, a library, and a gymnasium. At lunch, students have the option to dine outside in the courtyard. St. Mark’s utilizes a one-to-one device program in which the school provides its middle school students with an iPad for enhanced learning. Students at St. Mark’s have several opportunities to receive recognition for academic excellence. The school subscribes to the Scripps Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Houston Chronicle, for students in grades third through eighth. The winner of the school gets the opportunity to compete in the city-wide spelling bee. Other award opportunities include the hospitality award, the academic excellence award, and the leader of pride award. Located at 3816 Bellaire Boulevard, St. Mark’s Episcopal has proudly served the West University community since 1960.

St. Mark's Episcopal School has been fantastic for my 8th grader. This will be her third year as a Lion and making the change from public to private education was the best decision I could have made. I was concerned whether my child would be behind academically and she has proved those concerns to be unfounded. She has flourished and truly loves the community of St. Mark's School. I can't say enough positive things about St. Mark's and what it has done for my child.

I've loved my time at St. Marks, they really care about the student and even though our homework load is a lot it prepares us for high school. I would like to change the sports to more competitive, but we don't have a lot of students so I can see why. I feel like I get a whole and complete middle school education. I also take multiple high school level courses.

In spite of what they present, STMES is NOT a peer school to St. John's, AOS, and River Oaks Baptist. The administration is not willing to confront issues with the programming and continue to stick their heads in the sand. Instead, they bend to the whims of a few loud parents. The "community" of thi...

The teachers genuinely care about the well being of our children and we have been amazed by the school leadership. Teachers have been open and honest with us about our kids strengths and areas of con...

Community is central to St. Mark’s, and children are central to the St. Mark’s community. Children do not get lost here. The teaching is superb, but that’s an extra attraction. If you want the best possible foundation for your child’s development, St. Mark’s will provide you that foundation.
