Western Reserve Academy, or Reserve as it’s commonly referred to, is a premier boarding and college-preparatory school located just outside downtown Hudson. The private and world-renowned institution serves a little more than 440 students in ninth through 12th grades from across the world. Rich with history, Reserve was established in 1826 and is one of the oldest preparatory boarding schools in the United States. The campus was founded by early settlers from Connecticut who sought a similar design and experience to that of the New Haven college that would become Yale University. As a result, the historic building incorporates the same architectural design and is often called “the Yale of the West,” with its famous Brick Row modeled after Yale’s feature. Today, students at Reserve have access to some of the best programs and education courses in the nation. The school offers dynamic writing instruction, fine and performing arts courses, entrepreneurship programming, modern and classical language studies, and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) programs. The facility’s Knight Fine Arts Center houses a large theater, a dance studio and a film development dark room. A variety of student work and exhibits are also displayed at The Moos Gallery. The top boarding and day school offers groundbreaking cancer immunology courses where students can conduct research and become published in scholarly journals. Athletic programs include soccer, golf, cross country, field hockey, volleyball, water sports, basketball, wrestling, riflery, ice hockey, baseball, softball, track and tennis. Recognized as one of the top high school lacrosse teams in the United States, Reserve won the Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Championship in 2006 and 2009.

The school has a very serious and responsible teaching team, rich sports clubs, and modern laboratories. The curriculum is very professional.

WRA was the best decision we made for our son. Coming from another country and in the tailend of the pandemic, WRA taught my son independence in a safe environment. They gave my son a "home", and especially an excellent education other institutions were short changing us for the reason of the pandemic. They prepared him well for college. The soccer program is also topnotch and my son found a band of brothers with them, elevating his WRA experience further.

I have too many good things to say about Reserve. From the classroom to the court, and during everything in between, I feel so welcome and at home at Reserve. There truly is no high school like ours around, from academic resources, to athletic exposure, and most importantly the people that surround you everyday. We are so fortunate to have the administration at Reserve because they truly care about you as a person, more than just a student and/or athlete.
