Established in 1963, Marina High is a public school in the Huntington Beach Union High School District. Located at 15871 Springdale St., in Huntington Beach, the school enrolls approximately 2,300 students and serves ninth through 12th grade. Home of the Vikings, Marina High is a California Distinguished School Recipient and offers an extensive core curriculum featuring classes in education, English, math, social science, science and world languages. The school also has a Visual Arts and performing academy and an art program for students who are taught the history of art and its unique place in our world. Fun facts about Marina High: the school boasts a 96 percent attendance rate and a 97 percent graduation rate with 41 percent of students attending a four-year university and 50 percent of graduates attending a two-year community college. The school features 23 CIF sports team including basketball, volleyball, golf, tennis and more. Students are diverse and maintain a wide range of interests with a whopping 80 percent of all students participating in sports, clubs and activities. The school sponsors a successful advanced placement and honors department which comprises ¼ of the student population. Overall, I think Marina was a great school to be at, but I wouldn't let my kids go there themselves. Although the teachers were great and my experience was okay, I wish I got something more out of the school. Looking back on my days there, I don't think I could've asked for a different experience, but now I love college. College has sent me beyond what Marina offered and now I am able to ready myself for the classes I take in college. I think Marina had great teachers who really cared about their students and academics, and now that I am in college, I think Marina has set the standards above anything else. I wish the school had more school spirit, but my experience was generally unforgettable.

Normal high school experience, focus though felt like it was especially on other kids like the football kids. Could do better if they focused more on the winning sports and empowering them then worrying about other things.

My experience at marina high school is that of a very academic point of view. I'm in a lot of APs and don't have much experience with non advanced classes so just keep that in mind. I believe that our advanced classes and the teachers are very good and passionate about their jobs. I feel as if I am getting a quality education from teachers that truly care about me.
