The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I moved to Ithaca, NY for high school and it was probably one of the best choices I've made in my life. The academics are great, and there's a ton of AP classes you can take. The art and music programs are great, especially the bands. We kind of suck at sports but that doesn't really matter that much. There's also someone you can talk to, so if you go here don't be afraid to reach out. The admin make bad decisions occasionally but they're usually ok. IHS is a great school to go to.

The best part of my experience is Casino Night. The event was well done with the help of the staff and teachers. It was memorable for me. The worst part of my experience is the gender-neutral bathrooms are so dirty. Mostly the boys fault, their pee spread everywhere. I have to wipe the place where I have to sit down and put layers underneath so it's cleaner, and I don't get diseases. I hope men in the future could aim better and be a little "thinkful" about the next person that will use the toilet.

The school is too small for the amount of students, but overall it's a good school, especially if you are determined yourself. A lot depends on your own independent work.
Terrible culture at this school. Not only do the administrators not care about the students, but the student activities director prevents activities. There is 1-2 dances a year depending on grade, and almost no other events. The counselors provide very limited support to most students and it is very...
I do believe they never really help students if the students don't ask. And maybe that student is uncomfortable speaking in a classroom. They aren't very good at noticing when something is wrong.
A good school with great teachers, a kind of toxic atmosphere, and equity problems. A lot of people are very focused on APs and there’s a culture of toxic academic betterness that is barely ever addressed as it should be. The lack of opportunities for students of color and lower income students are...
