GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Overall, I went to McNair strictly for academics, and because of that, I feel ready for college. However, I wish the school had higher-quality facilities, resources, and school spirit. Additionally, although teachers are always willing to help you, the guidance counselors poorly manage scheduling and college admission readiness.

My time at McNair has been very competitive but I have enjoyed every moment of it. The school is filled with students who enjoy learning and hope to continue their academic careers into college.

McNair Academic is a pretty great high school. For starters, the academics are well organized, though I would really like to see some IB or dual-enrollment classes being offered next year. The diversity in the school is wonderful (given that this is located in Jersey City). The same can be said for most of the teachers there, who try and succeed to get their students engaged in the lessons.

Students are often told that they are "Mcnair Kids" and shouldn't be acting like "Dickinson Kids" or "Lincoln Kids" as if...

Unfortunately, due to rigorous curriculum most of the students cheat in order to gain advantage. It's uncertain whether administration is aware of this dilemma.

McNair is portrayed to be better than what it really is. Honestly, people don't know what ot really is. It's really hyped up.

Being an alumnus of Dr. Ronald E. McNair Academic High School is what distinguished me from the rest of my Freshman class in my Undergraduate career in college. I was comfortable with taking multiple classes at once, studying almost 12 hours at a time and having to do a large amount of homework assi...
