GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Johnston High School has been a great experience all around for me with numerous opportunities provided in music and STEM activities that I pursued while there.

It was a very diverse experience. The gen Ed classes are the only ones that you see any diversity in; beyond that it's not diverse at all. This happened in a school district not known for diversity. It had its good and terrible teachers and some pretty spectacularly bad counselors. It was up to the individual student to advocate for their classes and goals and often conflict with counselors in their pursuit to screw students over.

I’m a Johnston alumni and was offered many AP and duel credit classes to take advantage of. These courses not only prepared me for college but also reduced the number of credits I had to fulfill at college. Looking back, I felt Johnston was more rigorous in comparison to my collegiate school work. T...
