GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I started Joliet West High School on August 29, 2024. So far, I noticed that the kids are very disrespectful to authority and each other. I used to fear for my life because the kids on my bus are so violent and aggressive and they are always arguing. I really enjoyed my first meal there on my first day of school. Most people don't like the food. I don't know about everybody else's teachers but my mine are good enough and we get along very well. They are very helpful towards me. I only needed 2 or 3 credits this year in English and in Social Studies. I also take an extra math class. I believe that I am being prepared very well for college in those 4 classes; especially my English class. The best part of my own personal experience is that I do very well in school and I excel. I don't think any of the classes are too hard for me at all. The worst part is the people and the structure of the institution.

Joliet West High School has great academics. There are so many different classes for a such diverse academic student body. I really enjoy attending school there.

I would like to see improvement in the bathrooms and security & admin personelle and effectiveness. The bathrooms are terrible quality and are always locked, ineffective in preventing vaping and improving safety. All it does is discourage people from going to school and makes them more uncomfortable. People are going to vape regardless.

Half of the teachers are amazing and the others are horrible and don’t want to help students. I graduated in 2020 and the only good thing about this school is the diversity in students so you have a good chance of making at least one really good friend. Fights are normal, drugs are normal. Even if t...

I went to school there and I sent my children there, too. It was good when i attended but it's awesome now! They have academies now where students are grouped by their career choices so that their training can be individualized. Our district is a frontrunner in the state where other districts come h...

I rate this school 5/5 because of all the opportunities that the school offers, the diversity, great teachers, and the really good sports and clubs.

Definitely not recommended -- attend JCA if you can afford it!
