Located in northern Argentine, Emerson Elementary is a public school that serves around 200 students from kindergarten through fifth grade. Students can attend before- and after-school programs that engage them in academically enriching activities. Originally built in the 1880s, the school is named after the American philosopher, author and poet — Ralph Waldo Emerson — known as the pioneer of the transcendentalist movement in the early 1800s. After battling multiple floods, the school moved across town in 1960 to its present location on 29th Street. The building received a technology and infrastructure upgrade in 2001. Emerson Elementary, home of the Eagles, offers an academically challenging environment and encourages students to reach their full potential. Emerson students score higher than the district in math, science, English and language arts. The foundation of this academic environment is social, emotional and character development that fosters a sense of responsibility, compassion and respect among the students and staff. Technology is a vital piece of the curriculum at Emerson. Each student receives a laptop to use for the year.
