Fountain City Elementary is a small public school serving kindergarten through fifth-grade students just steps from Broadway in Knoxville, Tennessee’s Fountain City community. The school was established in 1917. Students at Fountain City can get involved in several special programs including Gifted and Talented, the spelling bee, an art show, field day, safety patrol, family literacy night and walk-to-school day. Fountain City Elementary is supported by an active Parent Teacher Organization that meets each month and organizes fundraisers, the annual carnival, teacher-appreciation meals and other school events. Students who live more than a mile away from the school are eligible to ride the bus to and from school each day. However, students living within a 1-mile radius are considered part of the parental responsibility zone and do not qualify for transportation services. After fifth grade at Fountain City Elementary School, students are zoned to attend nearby Gresham Middle School where they will continue to immerse into their academic passions.

As a parent of a special needs kid, do not send your kid here. They allow kids to elope outside of the school, they don’t tell you, the teachers bully the special needs kids and allow other students to bully the kids. I pulled my kid from this school because he wasn’t safe there. Some teachers want...

I have two children at this school and have had a great experience. We had discussed going private school route but are so happy that we chose to go to Fountain City.

As a former student from a couple of years ago I do not like the current principal but I love the assistant principal...
