Located in Hardin Valley on Yarnell Road, Paideia Academy is a K-12 school that boasts a classical Christian education for about 260 students in Knoxville, Tenn.
The admissions process at Paideia includes an academic assessment and family interview to ensure a good fit.
Students at Paideia benefit from small classes of about 15 students each. The classical education model is rooted in liberal arts, so PA encourages students to master all subjects while in elementary school and then teaches them to think critically and engage with the world around them as they work through middle and upper grades. The use of technology is limited at Paideia in accordance with the classical education model.
Paideia students can participate in sports including climbing, basketball, flag football, soccer, tennis, cross-country, and volleyball. Beginning in fourth grade, each student is provided with an instrument and enrolled in the beginning band. Students can choose between flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or snare drum/bells. After a year of beginning band, students may choose to enroll in Lower School Band beginning in fifth grade or continue their musical education in a music class.
Paideia Academy hosts assorted extra-curricular activities after school, including a book club, robotics club, and Model UN.

I went to Paideia from 1st through 12th grade. I loved it. I learned so much about the world and about how to see the world. I learned about Christ and being a Christian. My teachers inspired me to love God and love learning. My transition from Paideia to Covenant College was smooth; I felt plenty prepared.

My daughter loves this school and has already developed a love of learning. The community of parents and faculty is supportive and reflects a value of integrity and excellence. We could not be more pleased at the prospect of our family growing and serving in this environment.

My children have been here for 7 years and are thriving academically, socially, and spiritually. The school community is full of close friendships. Staff and teachers are easily accessible. This school is "for" my family and loves and cares for us unlike anything I would expect to find at other schools.

Decent, I am just concerned that some of the learning does not prepare my child for high school and is encouraging rebellion. The facilities and after school activities are lacking, my son is in the band and it is missing over half of the group!
