GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

We need better teachers. We need teachers that here to help us get to the next level not just there for a paycheck. We need more electives, more resources, and better communication with the head.

At my school, we do not have any clubs. It makes the school as a whole feel more like an institution. We rarely, if ever go on trips, and it has gotten to the point that the Vikings of Northwest have little to no school spirit. But don't get me wrong, I appreciate having a free education, I just wish that there would've been more opportunities for me to grow.

I would love to see a lot change. When I attended this high school from 2012-2016 it got worse and worse each year. We started losing classes such as ROTC. More and more teachers started leaving, making classes get more filled or taught by a substitute. However, you can tell and feel the potential is there. But, no one is trying to change it hopefully someone can, I can't do much in college but I visit and try to help.

I currently attend Northwest halifax Highschool, and i can honestly say a turn around has happened. Less fights are present, and more students are starting to turn around and chagne theri act. This is NOT the best school in the world no,and yes our funding is poor. This doesn't make up a school, we...

I went to the school about 3 years ago and i can say that i hated this place with a passion. It is one of the depressing places you could have ever attended and i mean the atmosphere itself was the depressing part. Many of the teachers will not fail students and someone else goes behind them and pas...

Northwest Halifax High School is a school of distinction, it is better than any other high school like Southeast Halifax High School I shall say. I had plenty of cousins to attend and one is graduating this coming June. At Northwest, it is a lot of gangs, attitude in students and there are some teac...

i am currently a sophomore at NWHS, and i think this school is the worst school you can go to. The principle (Mr. Rountree) is doing all he can to make this a better school. If i could leave i would, another school i would attend is Altholton High in Coulibmia, MD !!
