Lorton Station Elementary (Lorton Station) opened its doors in 2003, joining Fairfax County's Region 3 Hayfield pyramid from within The Fields at Lorton Station neighborhood. Guiding and developing over 700 students who are proud to be known as the Roadrunners, Lorton Station offers several unique features and experiences. In addition to educating students from kindergarten through sixth grade, Lorton Station provides preschool classes that also serve students with special needs. Led by Principal Francis Legagneur, staff and students here enjoy a variety of creative spaces including a television production studio, rock climbing wall, computer labs, and theater area. Classrooms are equipped with multiple computers and laptops, allowing wired and wireless internet access. Beyond the school’s more than 10,000 square feet of instructional space, students enjoy a playground and several playing fields. And to further enrich the Lorton Station experience, the PTA stays engaged in providing a monthly newsletter, extracurricular event nights, and cultural arts programs. As a valued community institution, Lorton Elementary’s stated mission is to “create a safe and supportive environment in which all students can achieve their best.”

We've had some of the most caring and helpful teachers since coming to this school. They always have great activities and are very responsive to student and parent needs.

My kids have been attending this school since 2018 and it has gone from bad to flat out horrible. While the front office staff is AMAZING, the rest is just bad. The principle is arrogant, full of attitude and does NOT care about the students at all. I have tried to reach out to him on multiple occas...

They have a new principal who couldn't care less about the kids learning. He is arrogant and refuses to take parents' calls and blames them for everything. It was never a good school, but has gone even further downhill. Principal refuses to answer questions and teachers are a mixed bag, but mostly n...

Having my child attend this school was the worst decision ever. He went from a child with minor behavioral issues- to suddenly developing bad language, bad habits and bad behavior. Teacher to student ratio is roughly 1:24. If your child/children are younger just know they’re not going to get much at...

The two most recent reviews have to be completely fake. From all the reviews I have seen and my own experience. Trust your gut and avoid this school at all costs. Your child’s intelligence will literally decline if you send them here.
