At Buchanan Street Elementary in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles, teachers foster a specialized education. Featured as a STEM magnet center, where “we put PAWS on learning,” children are encouraged to be Productive, Authentic, Welcoming, and Successful. Students are honored with the Buchanan Bobcats Recognition Award during the school year with the bobcat spirit of their mascot.
The elementary provides education for early transitional kindergarten to fifth grade students living in the Buchanan area. Programs focus on science, tech and math development, while extracurricular activities focus on volunteer events and field trips about cultural awareness. At Buchanan Street Elementary, students are taught that great character is as important as education and learning.
Located on nearly 4-acres, the school is part of the California Urban Greening Project. Additions include large trees, drought tolerant landscaping and native plantings. A school built on community driven outreach, integrity and compassion, Buchanan Street Elementary facilitates quality learning environments both inside and outside of the classrooms.

My daughter is in the UTK class at Buchanan and is having a wonderful experience. The teachers at Buchanan are great and the school has a STEM and Dual Language program, plus a greening project is also beginning Summer of 2024!
