Glassell Park Elementary puts a strong emphasis on living sustainably, so it has integrated environmental literacy within its curriculum. The school is participating in a Los Angeles Unified District wide program to ensure kids have access to high speed internet service at home. Glassell Park Elementary was established in 1924, then updated in 1933 after a major earthquake. The unique architectural structure has been deemed as a contributing resource, and therefore is on the list of Registered Historic Places in the city of Los Angeles.
