The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

LACHSA is a great school because it is a haven for creative students. It gives them an environment where art can flourish through classes, creative opportunities, and introductions to other creative students, leading students to work together on their own exciting projects. High school has a reputation for being the worst years of one's life, but it's been the best years of my life yet.

This school has been such an amazing environment for me. The mixing pot of likeminded art students has improved my overall happiness and helped me perform better academically and artistically.

The school starts kid out well in Freshman and Sophomore year, and gives them academic and arts teachers that do teach you. Then, as junior and senior year approach, the teacher teach less and less and you catch yourself spending an entire class doing nothing. I loved this school in the beginning, but now I'm definitely getting tired of it. I love the film aspect, and I get good use out of the arts, but I wish it was more teaching and less of you teaching yourself.
My son is a recent graduate from the Cinematic Arts department, and I am so grateful for the phenomenal experience he had here. It is most definitely NOT the school for everyone. The student who does best here is one who is eager to focus on his/her art, is relatively mature and does not need a ton...
The only plus side of this school are the other students I met there. The year I spent at this school was easily the worst of my academic life, and, similarly, when I transferred I felt the greatest sense of relief I ever have.
Nightmare. My student had an A in Spanish and didn't know what it meant to conjugate a verb. The music faculty forces kids to play instruments and music styles they don't want to even if it means kids miss out on critical courses in their chosen major. Music can be a very hostile environment. The pr...
Do not waste your child's precious High School years at this place. While claiming to be the "premiere arts high school" in LA, they sadly admit an appaling amount of untalented performers who are interested in furthering their Instagram engagement instead of a highly displined arts curriculum.
