Edgewood High School Of The Sacred Heart is part of a family of Catholic schools in Madison's Dudgeon-Monroe neighborhood. The high school serves students in ninth grade through twelfth grade. Its vision is to provide an exceptional high school experience in an inclusive Dominican Catholic community where every student is inspired to study, reflect and take action in pursuit of a purposeful life. To accomplish this vision the school aims to create students who focus on a life of learning, service and personal responsibility through a curriculum that focuses on the values of truth, compassion, justice, community and partnership. Students who have learning differences, test anxiety, organizational challenges, and problems in specific areas can get academic support through the Edgewood High School Learning Resource Center (LRC). Other academic support for students include one-on-one tutors. Edgewood is a college-prep high school that encourages graduates to go on to college. However, they recognize that college isn’t something that all students can or want to pursue. The school works with those students to identify alternative options like joining the armed forces and work programs. Outside of the classroom, Edgewood offers plenty of activities for students to participate in. Those who enjoy athletics can join one of the many seasonal sports teams. Other activities include the class council, debate team, drama club, math team, and many more. Edgewood is also a founding member of the Wisconsin High School Esports Association (WIHSEA) league and has a robust esports team. Tuition is more than $10,000 annually and financial aid is available.

I could not imagine paying $11,000+ to send my kid somewhere he doesn't get prepared to deal with actual people. The lack of diversity and prude attitudes of the kids do not represent the Christian values the school claims to have. If you are a minority student especially African American you are likely to experience prejudice and racism at a higher level than any public school in the area.

EHS does a great job of connecting people and making new students feel like they are part of the Edgewood community. At EHS, your teachers know you personally. Those relationships allow for learning experiences unique to each student. I think that Edgewood should improve the diversity of the student body, faculty, and staff. We also need to work towards holding people accountable when an individual's dignity is not respected.
