Me personally i don't enjoy high school but during my junior of high school my grandfather passed and it hit me hard i went back home to chicago for like two weeks to mourn his death with my loved ones, once i came back to school i was numb i didn't have any motivation to do anything and that took a huge toll on me academically. My GPA went from a 3.17 to a 1.80 but i didn't care because i was hurting and nobody could seem to understand my pain. I lost my best friend, my Law & Order buddy, my everything. After taking the ACT I realized that I'm still in school and this isn't me so I got back onto my school work. I felt as if it was too late and that I wasn't gonna get into college and that motivated me to really get it together because I promised my grandpa that I would make it so now I had something to keep me going

La Follette High School was a difficult place to be. Throughout my time there I felt like I always needed to watch my back for violence coming my way. Several times during the two years I physically went there, fights would occur almost every day and sometimes even weapons were drawn. Because of the extreme violence at La Follette, I joined a dual credit program at our local community college to escape the violence of La Follette.

I had an amazing time there. The teachers were great, caring, and supportive. I spent my freshman sophomore junior and senior years there and I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else

A kid brought a gun to school and a week later I see them in the hallways and all the staff acts like nothing happeneds. You can never feel safe even if you mind your business

Absolutely horrible school. I switch my last kid out of here due to the lack of safety, learning and discipline. Kids are out of control. No SRO to help with safety. Bomb threats, guns, fights- you name it, it’s happening. I swear my kids have a form of PTSD from the high level of anxiety every day....

I wen to Lafollette the first year it opened in 1965, IIRC, and loved it. I had the world's greatest Civics teacher.

My daughter is a junior and she has 3 classes that have no teachers. She signed up for an auto class and a drawing class, and could not take them because no funding so they couldn't hire a teacher. My child has a IPE, teachers don't follow her plans, and she has had no counselors for this past year....
