GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

It was very hard to get in. It's competitive and even though my relatives attended, things have changed since they went like all things do. It's not much of a fun school culture in the traditional sense. I feel lucky to go here and if you excel in academics, you will be fine here. Getting in is the hard part. If you sort of know what you want to do or want to score some good scholarships for college, this school might be a good choice. Lots of diversity but not as much as other public high schools that aren't vocational.

I LOVE MATES! I have gotten so many unique opportunities and have become a very well-rounded student thanks to MATES. I am very happy to be able to have attended this school.

A very academically challenging curriculum. Small class sizes make the teacher student ratio good though so getting extra help or guidance is always an option.

Research opportunities are college caliber. Given a second chance would do it all over again. This 2019 #1 ranked Ocean Co...

MATES Academy is a great school with many offerings in Science/Math/Research/Technology and concentration in Marine Science. The school challenges the students to their maximum potential, is very rigorous and is ideally suited for a child with interest in the fore mentioned. An admission test is req...

I am currently a student at MATES and I love it. Despite it being a really heavy workload, it does prepare you for college. I am a big fan of the dual enrollment classes, I will have earned around 30 college credits by graduation, which will save me a lot of cash in college if they transfer. The res...

Worst discrimination practices I've ever seen in a school. Admissions is a far cry from reality.
