GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Kaneland was a fine high school given its location. For a small farm school in the middle of no where it was good. But in comparison to nearby bigger schools like St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, it was lackluster. I wish Kaneland would update its facilities. I think that would be the biggest improvement to the school. They tried to get a referendum past, but it failed. Improving the bathrooms, classrooms, hvac, gyms, sporting fields/courts, would improve the KHS experience.

At kaneland we have many pros and cons. Over my past 3 years we have had to deal with covid which I thought our school did a good job of dealing with. I feel like our administrators are either very good and care for their students very much or they are just there for the paycheck and do the bare minimum.

It wasn't the best experience going to Kaneland, but I made lasting connections there. I was glad to be done with high school and leave KHS behind, especially when students started getting more unruly. There were always lots of fights, and someone lit a toilet on fire once. I think there needs to be a heightening of morale at the school. Lots of students don't like being there, and I feel like that contributes to the unsafe atmosphere.

Most teachers just assume that you know the work and send you on your way to a final exam or a unit test and when you don't do well, they blame you for not studying. There are only a few teachers that are good and they are in easy A classes. And all of this kills your GPA. Plus they don't prepare yo...

There is no accountability in the school system. Homework is not required and late work is graded at full scores. The school does not prepare the students for college or life in general.

I've had the unique experience of having one child attend the Geneva school district through HS and is a recent grad of a 4 year university. Unfortunately, my youngest spent his last four years of schooling at KHS and is now woefully unprepared for his higher level education experience. When I made...

This school like all schools has it's flaws but in retrospect, it really is above average. Some teachers are better than others but majority good, and decent amount are great. A few are bad but this really is the minority and even the bad teachers generally do a good enough job that you really only...
