Opening its doors in 1959, Mechanicsville High School offers traditional classes common in public high schools in addition to a variety of other alternatives for students that can appeal to the various pathways students can take after graduation. The Advanced College Academy (ACA) is a program where students earn college credits for courses while maintaining their high school classes. Many ACA students graduate with an associate degree. This high school also has an IB program, which is an advanced course of studies. Their IB program is designed to meet the needs of highly motivated eleventh and twelfth grade students. This school also works with the Hanover Center for Trades and Technology to help students become workplace ready while inspiring them to be life-long learners. Beyond academics, the school boasts a variety of clubs, activities, and athletics for students to participate in. With more than 20 clubs, students can share their passions with their peers in clubs like BETA, color guard, debate, photography, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, Ducks Unlimited, and Quill and Scroll. For the athletes, there are fall, winter, and spring sports, including football, volleyball, cheerleading, basketball, swimming, dance, and lacrosse.

The best parts of school for me are the teachers and sports. my worst part would be the tests and waking up early. I would like to see more involvement in the community.

Mechanicsville High School is a good place to go if you want a solid education for your child. However, they do tend to find themselves in a lot of controversy and they shy away from giving in-depth statements about the issues they find themselves in. The staff is wonderful, including Miss Evelyn, the almost 100-year-old lunch lady who works daily to ensure the kids are fed.

Stay away ! Go to another school in the county. There are very few teachers who care anymore. The sports area joke. The administration does not care. The athletic director plays the buddy game. Choice another school if possible.

My daughter had an awesome experience at Lee-Davis aka Mechanicsville High School. They offer the Advance College Academy which she participated in. She received her associates degree while in high school. She had phenomenal teachers who really cared about her and she now considers lifelong friends....

While our student had his problems with bullying, it is not unusual for kids to experience some sort in high school, and life in general. It was dealt with the best it could be but it falls on parents to not raise kids that do it, it’s not the schools fault. Other than that our child loves the schoo...
