Audubon Charter Schools is a network of three campuses located throughout New Orleans, offering both Montessori and language immersion programs. Audubon Uptown is made up of upper and lower campuses serving children from pre-K to eighth grade, while Audubon Gentilly enrolls students from pre-K to fifth grade. Together, these schools are part of a legacy that began in 1981 when four teachers were inspired to create the previously named Audubon Montessori. Obtaining a charter organization license from the state of Louisiana in 2006 inspired a name change, and today’s Audubon Charter Schools network carries on the mission to inspire learners to become active global citizens. Audubon Charter Schools-Gentilly is located at 4720 Painters St. in the New Orleans neighborhood of Gentilly Terrace. It's one of the most sought-after schools in the city, and with good reason. In addition to an outstanding arts curriculum, the institution also teaches French immersion courses according to France’s national curriculum and bilingual Montessori classes. The French government made Audubon Charter a designated center for proven strategies for teaching a foreign language. The school has both before and after-care programs and provides transportation to and from campus daily for qualifying students.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
