Originally called the L. E. Rabouin Memorial Trades School and built in 1937, the large school at 727 Carondelet St. today houses the International High School of New Orleans in the city’s Warehouse District. This college preparatory school enrolls 450 students and has a student-to-teacher ratio of 15–1, ensuring class sizes remain small for individualized learning. It serves ninth grade through 12 and is a co-educational facility. The school provides transportation to and from campus by yellow or city bus and requires all students to wear uniforms, which range in price from $20-$29. The International High School of New Orleans is the only institution in the city offering an International Baccalaureate as well as a Louisiana Diploma. To earn the degree, students must take two years of rigorous coursework. The school also offers a variety of foreign languages for students to learn, including Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French and Spanish. There are multiple clubs, activities, and athletic clubs students can join as well, such as track and field, volleyball, tennis, speech and debate team, Globetrotters club, drama club and yearbook.

Overall the teachers are very inspiring. When you come to them with your problem they find ways to help or at least comfort you. Especially the staff for example the security and the lunch ladies are amazing. From just listening to goofy comments to having serious real world conversations. Some people may need a little work on their attitude or speaking ways but those who are sweet never fail at all. Some teachers are so sweet and humble you couldn't bare to hear someone disrespect them. The students aren't bad but people in general isn't my thing. But the people I do like make it so fun and nice to be learning or just bare wit being there for so long. Of course like other schools they aren't perfect and they do need to work on some things and maybe even lower down some people importance but besides the hand full of ignorant people it's a great place. I've really enjoyed the time being here and the people I've known are really great.

The school was great, mostly due to the teachers, they are all great and caring and really helped me to strive to success, but the administration was fairly lacking.

What I like about my current high school is the overall message in regards to impacting the different nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds of the students of New Orleans. What I would wish to see changed would be the independence allowed to the students and I would like to see a lot more trust given.

I feel like this school could be a whole lot better. Some of the staff members care about the children’s future. The math teacher told me that all my son needed was a D to pass. I replied that a D is passing but is not good. The CEO/ principal is lost. She is never at the school. The discipline team...

Incredibly bad vibes, poor administrators (they show up after school starts), terrible discipline. Unorganized and no library even.

Diversity and excellence is key in this high school. The school celebrates its diversity in the five different languages it offers, in the cultural festivals it holds, in recognition of differences through clubs and activities, and other planned events. The International Baccalaureate program is an...
