Out of all the schools I have ever attended in NYC lab is by far the best. Lab has a community feel where everyone knows everyone. It can be hard to make friends at first but there are plenty of opportunities to do so such as sports and clubs. Some sports start pre-school so you can meet people there. The principal and teachers are all super nice, you might get a few not so great ones, but for the most part they are great. Nyc lab school is on the smaller side of NYC public highschools, which gives you a chance to get to know your class, teachers, and peers better. Nyc lab school is in a convenient location for food, neighborhood and for the A,C,E,L,F trains

Lab is an okay school. Academics are good but most others things need work, especially the diversity.

PROS: ~supportive community ~liberal school ~amazing teachers ~college prep/advisory is great ~freshmen can get lunch outside of school CONS: ~bathrooms are out of order. gotta head upstairs to the middle school or use the one's downstairs. ~clubs don't get much funding. bake sales hardly contribute much. ~school lunch is atrocious.

I am a parent of a 10th grader. This might have been a rigorous high school at one time; the science and math classes remain challenging, but the teaching in literature is less than mediocre. My child had one essay assigned for ninth grade. In 10th grade, difficult essays were assigned after books w...

I have been a Lab parent for 8 years and I truly love both schools. It was a shame that the founders, Sheila and Rob split them up right before they retired... My oldest child has graduated, and is loving college. He thrived at both the middle and high school. My other child is entering 10th grade,...

Lab is a fantastic school that really puts much of its emphasis on creating a safe environment for all students from different socioeconomic backgrounds and orientations. However, the academics is not good. I can say Lab has a very strong and challenging math curriculum, but everything else sucks. N...
