GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

This is a truly toxic school culture with the highest rate of bullying in District 2 and a principal who lost 2 large lawsuits for failing to protect students from severe bullying. The academics are shockingly poor with parents mistakenly believing it is of high quality based on the outdated former reputation of the school when it had a gifted and talented program years ago and the the former DOE commissioner was the former principal. These predominantly wealthy students are 2 years behind the gifted and talented students in other schools and have a much higher frequency of behavioral disorders and severe aggression.

My special needs kid attended PS 6 from kindergarten through fifth grade. His experience was outstanding on the whole. The vast majority of teachers and administrators were dedicated to helping my son thrive. Their solutions to issues were creative and flexible. Parent involvement was high, especial...

The teachers are very dedicated. The parent body is highly involved and that includes through monetary donations. Most families are highly educated. There are 3 medical centers nearby and a lot of kids have at least one parent who is a doctor. There are bright immigrant kids whose parents have chose...

Zero, if only I could. I can’t begin to describe the traumatic experience we had with the school. It was unfounded and excruciating to watch a 5 year old go through. The teachers and admin will surprise you and not in a good way. They do NOT care about you. Trust me, don’t be fooled by the gorgeous...

We have been in PS 6 for over 5 years now and I have to say that PS 6 is a wonderful community that provides the best of what is expected out of a NYC public school. The emphasis of academics is subtle - your child can reach way beyond grade level if your child is up for it. Children going to PS 6 a...
