GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

NFA has a lot of great programs that help students graduate with trade schools in case they don't pursue college. I am grateful for these trades. But this district in general needs to raise the bar with their curriculum and college readiness. There are a lot of programs for students who want to graduate with some college credit and that's a plus. One thing I would change would be to make stricter rules for students who are repeat offenders and fight in school.

As a student at Newburgh Free Academy, I feel as though my experience has been decent. Over the years, I've been able to form new relationships with other students, as well as teachers and my guidance counselor. I would say that is the best part of my experience. In contrast, the worst part of my experience involves gun violence at a football game in 2022. Thankfully, I have seen a lot of changes regarding this. Even so I would like to see change within the cooperation of both students and teachers.

The Town of Newburgh, and parts of New Windosr which are separate municipalities from the City of Newburgh unfortunately do not have a school district and therefore the kids of those towns have to att...

While trying to get through these hallways, students are blasting disgusting music on portable speakers. You're pushed and shoved, body slamme...

It’s a graduation fulfillment center. The superintendent has been juicing the graduation rates since he arrives. Every policy he has introduced has lowered expectations for students, and it’s really begun to show in terms of student readiness for life after high school. Some students do transcend th...
