One of the first state-approved public charter schools in Georgia, Odyssey Charter School serves around 400 kindergarten through eighth grade students within the Newnan community. Opened in August 2004, Odyssey offers desirably small class sizes and places special emphasis on developing self-motivated students. The school aims to cultivate an educational environment that promotes accountability and creates lifelong learners. As a K-8 school, many parents appreciate the seamless transition to middle school, and the ability to have children of different ages attend the same school. Odyssey’s English language arts curriculum incorporates essay writing and the study of novels and short stories. The school’s enVision math curriculum helps students deeply understand math concepts using student-centered projects. To equip students to pursue STEM careers, or science, technology, engineering and math, Odyssey uses the STEMscopes science curriculum developed at Rice University. Science is taught through doing, via hands-on investigation, in preparation for a high-tech and competitive workforce. Odyssey students sport their dress-code uniform daily in black, white and gold school colors. All students are issued Chromebooks, all classrooms have interactive whiteboards, and students can use the 3-D printer in the tech lab. Odyssey also offers Gifted, Early Intervention and Special Education programs to meet the needs of students on every level.

Both of my children go to this school and we all love it! I wouldn't have it any other way. I love how they have looping class rooms so k/1 have the same teacher for 2 years. Every grade up to 5 have two teachers in the classrooms and the student teacher ratio is a lot smaller than public schools, b...

I attended this school from 2011 to 2014 and I can honestly say that those were the best years of my schooling. The relationship between the teachers, staff, and students gives a family-type feeling. The small class and school size feels like we are all one big family. Although some things might hav...
