This school is very strong in most areas. Strong academic rigor, teachers, preparation for college, safety, resources, and even sports bring this rating up high. The four corners of STEM are fulfilled but the immediate jump at failiure is found in their Arts. Attempts to fill the art requirement in A-G to apply for colleges are completed, but vein. The option to take an art class is never given to students, and this school fails to value the arts as an equal to STEM.

The teachers and staff are all amazing. No other school will make accommodations according to their students' needs such as this one. Although this school is very centered on STEM, I do wish there was more variety. There are no activities dedicated to the arts(visual and performing), and many of the clubs aren't taken seriously or carried out in a legitimate manner.

My child is currently in their 5th year at the Science Academy. Academics are wonderful - our students have the highest standardized test scores in the district and in the top 3 within California. The school also recently received the highest test scores on the new California statewide science test (CAST). More than half of our high school students play a sport on campus and all high schoolers have dual enrollment at LAVC.

They have an entrance exam with a high bar and present themselves as an elite school for gifted children.
