GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

As a student here, Walter Reed was wondeful. I was part of the Humanities and there was a wonderful English teacher whom I respect very much. Sure, I had a rough start because of bullying, but the school was wise and made the appropriate action. Humanities was awesome, thanks to it's project-based learning. It was really fun, just that there was an overwhemingly large amount of homework. Walter Reed was a school that I'd respect very much.

I would say that the IHP is probably the top middle school in Los Angeles. Accelerated, interesting and thoughtful. Teachers are amazing. There is a test to get into the school, a letter from a teacher and an application, almost comparable with a top private school. It is incredible that LAUSD has not harnessed this model and duplicated it. This is the education excellence that parents are looking for. Cons are - no Spanish language arts.

The school overall is very nice but there is not a sense of community in the other academies. Moreover, there is a...

Dedicated teachers were extremely responsive to both my child's academic strengths and needs. Homework levels varied, but were overall manageable. Teachers were individually strong in their respective subjects.
