My daughter has been attending Chaparral School since Freshman year, she is a senior now. She moved from another district so she did not know anyone at the school. She has great friends, great teachers who care about her academic success.

Post covid Chaparral implemented their no phones policy which in theory seemed like a good idea to get students to pay attention, however, for the time we are in now I don't think it is really possible to make that happen especially with high schoolers. I realize there are requirements within the curriculum that teachers are meant to teach, but things need to be more hands on versus over a computer or phone. Students no longer are reading and writing physically but are inticied to do so on their devices where there are a multitude of other distractions that come with the device. Besides that, I struggled with friends, which may have been a part of the high school experience, however, the gentrification of my town and the people around me made it harder for me to want to fit into what people were. Those who were outcasts or weird did not feel as accepted there much at all.

During my four years of attending Chaparral High School, I've met many friends and influencers who have helped me in many ways. The best part of my experience was being involved in art and tech theater. I loved to use my creativity and those classes helped me learn not just the subject but also life lessons. I got to participate in many shows by being a part of the run crew, paint crew, and build crew in tech theater. For art, the classes I took (Drawing and Painting 1 - 4 and Art experience), let me expand and explore different mediums to work with while also teaching me how to incorporate research within. Some of the worst parts of my experience involved team/partner projects. Sometimes my group members wouldn't do their work or find academic resources that helped support the topic. My experience at Chaparral High School was amazing and I don't think there is anything that I want to change.

We have lived in the Chap feeder area since 2008, and all three of our sons have attended Chaparral, with one still enrolled there. Our children are academically diverse, and we can share our experiences with AP courses, general education, and mild to moderate special education, all have been except...

My child is thriving at Chap. It’s clear the administration has fostered a culture of inclusion where students and families feel like they are part of a supportive community. Their math department is strong with some of the best teachers in Douglas County. The robotics class was one of my child’s fa...

A terrible experience with the AP English Language teacher who does nothing but make excuses for not grading ANY work. Do your job or move aside!! Totally unacceptable to give ZERO feedback on writing and leave kids hanging for months. Like the summer essay hasn't been graded....from three months ag...
