The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
The Test Score Rating reflects annual state test results for this school compared with scores statewide.

Overall this school has been really good to me. The teachers are all nice and easy to get along with, and the opportunities that the school offers for extra curricular activities are amazing. The band is the best in the state, And the football and softball teams are also some of the best. The education at Perkins is amazing. They find the most easy and efficient ways to teach students. My grades at Perkins have always been good. I thank the teachers for that. However, It being such a small town, with so many people wanting to do the extra curriculars, It is sometimes hard to get involved in a few things. Its always been, 'first come first serve' or the older students get first pick. Which I don't totally disagree with but i feel like in most occasions, students will feel cheated. I feel like there should be tryouts for more things , and have people who aren't really familiar with other students at the school so you know it is a fair game.

I have gone to Perkins-Tryon my entire academic career I do not have anything else to compare the school to, but I have always been a straight A student. PT must be doing something right in order for me to be maintaining a 4.0.

Perkins-Tryon High school is a friendly environment and is very spirited especially when it comes to football.
The middle school counselor is the most unfriendly and unwelcoming person I have ever met. Don't expect your child to feel comfortable talking to her or being able to come to discuss anything
I am currently attending this school. The education system is excellent in my opinion. And there are plenty of friendly classmates, if you choose the right ones to hang out with. But be careful, some of them are backstabbers.
