GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Solid education with excellent supports from teachers and strong alumni association and community. Great school spirit and culture within the building, in the community, and most certainly among alumni for decades. Would like Phila school district overall to improve its resources to all schools.

Central was a very diverse and welcoming school, however the current faculty in place are where the school is lacking. There was constantly a sense of school pride, especially due to the events held by students.

As a freshman, I felt like Central was moving very fast for me. If there's one thing that they do well here, it's pushing you out of your comfort zone. They try to make you talk and put yourself out there to create acquaintances with one another, and it worked very well for me. I've recognized that I have gotten more social, and now as an incoming junior I'm not so nervous about school or attending here in general. The worst part of my experience however, is partially my fault and it's because I don't necessarily speak unless spoken to, so it's created a lot of problems for me when connecting with other students as well as teachers. Because I don't speak as much in class , teachers might think I'm uninterested and the same goes for students.

Central High School has prepared me more for graduate school than my actual undergraduate school. Hands down the BEST public high school in Philadelphia. period.
