Opened in 2013 as a charter school just east of South Mountain, BASIS Ahwatukee serves more than 700 students in fourth through twelfth grades in the Ahwatukee area of Phoenix. The faculty here set the bar pretty high with an open culture that fosters well-rounded excellence.
Following a rigorous curriculum, BASIS Ahwatukee often ranks in the top 10 of all high schools in Arizona and in the top 100 of all high schools in the United States with absolutely stellar test scores in math and reading, in addition to a 100% graduation rate. If those stats aren’t enough, 100% of students pass at least one Advanced Placement exam.
Outside of the classroom, students can also thrive creatively in a wide range of extracurriculars including anime, coding, improv and drama, orchestra, and robotics, among others. Additionally, the more athletic set can find team spirit and compete in basketball, fencing, soccer, and volleyball.
As an enriching experience for seniors, BASIS hosts senior projects that empower students to engage in off-campus research projects or internships where they can work with a mentor in their desired field and present their learnings like a scholar. One of the most exciting aspects of these senior projects is that they can take place anywhere in the world, placing no limits on what can be unlocked by the creativity of each student.

Basis Ahwatukee has a rigorous curriculum that gets one ready for college. There are many opportunities for AP classes in this school. The teachers are always changing and don't get paid much. The administration is not the best either

I liked the teachers and students. Even though the courses were rigorous, I enjoyed my time because of those around me and those who supported me. The only problem was admin. Every student and teacher at BASIS complained about admin. They were harsh this year because of COVID-19 which I understand, but some of their rules didn't make sense.

I loved being able to develop personal relationships with my teachers. They were very focused on doing everything they can to help you succeed. One thing I would like to see change is for teachers to stick around longer. This school has a poor turnover rate with teachers each year. The school is small and easy to get around.

Both of my graduated children when onto college (Barrett at ASU and Engineering). I have 1 special needs child. The community at this school is outstanding...
