Providing an alternative option to traditional schools, Hope Academy High School serves students in grades nine through twelve as an accommodation school in the Maricopa Regional School District. Here, students are given the opportunity to learn in an environment that’s more attentive and caring, whether they have experienced life trauma or have specific needs that otherwise aren’t being met in a traditional educational setting. At Hope Academy, the faculty take a different approach to learning. Instead of focusing solely on separate classes individually devoted to specific subjects, instruction revolves around a curriculum that integrates multiple subject areas into group tasks and project-based problem-solving. While underclassmen focus on building a solid foundation in STEAM disciplines, upperclassmen focus more on directing their learning toward their post-graduation careers. Freshmen and sophomores start by exploring business, graphic design, marketing, music production, robotics, rocketry, or other subjects as they develop their interests. Then, in a shift to career-focused learning, juniors and seniors spend half of their school day at the East Valley Institute of Technology (commonly known as EVIT), where they can take courses dedicated to vocational and technical training in more than 30 fields from automotive and construction to fashion and healthcare. In-school and after-school activities also provide opportunities for students to grow, all in an effort to help each student lead an active, productive, and fulfilling life.
