On a 15-acre campus near the Central Avenue corridor in South Phoenix, Aim Higher College Prep Academy is a charter school serving students in the seventh and eighth grades. With an aim to help students better prepare for college, the academy focuses on helping them become well-rounded, successful individuals so they may return to better serve the communities they grew up in. The faculty enforce firm structure and discipline, keeping in close contact with parents to form a tight-knit community that helps students become better leaders. In the classroom, teachers apply instruction to appeal to the needs of different cohorts of students based on their academic progress so everyone can succeed at their own pace. This is truly an institution where no pupil is left behind, regardless of their learning style. Respect is key at Aim Higher, as teachers strive to treat students more like adults instead of children and often participate in the same activities as the students, whether talking more about lessons during lunches or joining them in learning activities outside the classroom. When it comes to athletics, the academy also partners with the Canyon Athlete Association so students can join team sports for junior high schoolers which include baseball, volleyball, cross country, swimming, and many more.
