Located on Auburn Street in Portland, Harrison Lyseth Elementary School is a public school serving about 500 children from prekindergarten through fifth grade. The school is adjacent to Lyman Moore Middle School and both schools are just north of the shops at Northgate Plaza.
Since 2014, Lyseth Elementary School has offered a Spanish Immersion Program. Starting in kindergarten, Spanish Immersion students receive at least 90% of their instruction in Spanish. In 2020, Lyseth received the Ministry of Education and the Embassy of Spain’s School of the Year Award in the elementary school category.
The school playground is slated for a major renovation in the summer of 2022 and plans for the new play area include vertical and horizontal climbing structures, a multi-purpose space that could be used for natural play or outdoor classrooms, new swings and hammocks, landscaping and the creation of a double loop asphalt path.
Also found on the school campus is a trail leading to Pine Grove Park, a small neighborhood green space. The trail was designed by third graders at Lyseth, and both elementary and middle schoolers helped build the trail.

Lyseth is a wonderful school in a great community. The teachers are some of the best in the state of Maine. The student body is extremely welcoming and supportive of each other which contributes to a great environment for learning.
