GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Sunset is a great school. It has amazing opportunities for its students and the teachers support their students in every way possible.

I think that in general Sunset had enough supportive resources for students. However, I would like to see more academic rigor. I didn't feel very challenged.

Sunset was a school that I had low expectations for. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to a school that only offered IB classes after 10th grade. But in the end, I was able to find ways to challenge myself inside and outside of the classroom through clubs, events, and other activities. Sunset gave me the opportunity to push myself and stand out among my peers. It also taught me important life lessons regarding time management, work ethic, communication, and teamwork. Of course, my experience had its downs. The locker room and bathrooms (at least for boys) smell horrible and are often closed for speculative reasons. The overall architecture of the school, especially when compared to schools like Westview, is incredibly inferior. Class sizes are greatly imbalanced, especially in computer classes where 1 teacher has to sometimes supervise around 50 students at a time. But overall, I can say that these negatives don't affect how I feel about Sunset. I don't regret my 3 years here one bit.

After graduating from Sunset, our 4 children went on to college, 2 receiving full scholarships to the U of O. They became a copy-writer, surgeon, actress and statistical analyst. With their varying personalties and interests, their experiences were of course very different. None were in a "popular g...

I hardly learn anything even though I pay strong attention to the teacher and what they say and do the classwork. if i didn't live at two different houses half the time and o...
