Nestled among the luxury homes and lovely apartments in Prosper, Tx, R. Steve Folsom Elementary is a highly ranked school serving kindergarten through fifth grade. The school is located at 800 Somerville Drive and is named after R. Steve Folsom, the President of Folsom Companies, Inc. The Folsom family owned the land where the school now sits. With an enrollment of 697 students, the school’s mission is to engage each student to achieve excellence in learning. The school strives to create an environment with teachers and parents to support the children in feeling safe and to show the students that they are all valued. Support comes from special classroom programs with the guidance counselor to encourage building lasting relationships. The school is supported by a very active Parent Teacher Organization supporting the students with fun programs and fundraising efforts. Special campus events include Camp Read a Lot, Culture Night, and Open Mic Night. The school welcomes the children with plenty of playground space for recess. Age-appropriate play areas are set aside with a fenced-in playground for the younger students. Shaded with colorful awnings over the playscapes, the little ones can climb, slide, swing, or play games. Outdoor basketball and tetherball courts and a playground with ample play equipment provide imaginative play awaiting the older students. Open fields surround the school with soccer fields and a baseball field. “Folsom Fierce” is the spirit cry of the children with their Eagle Mascot as they head into their promising futures.

The school is not good at safety because the school nurse puts band-aids on when you have a giant scratch with blood on it.(one time i had a giant scratch and the nurse just put a band-aid on it)

School districts can not be judged on test scores alone. If you’re family is diverse, your experience will not be the same or what it should be. We really had hoped this community was more forward thinking and progressive as they portray themselves.

My daughter attends Folsom, and I just can't say enough good things! The teachers go above and beyond each day to ensure academic and social successes for the students. While I have been happy each year, I think 4th grade has been my favorite. The 4th grade team is awesome! They are all different in...

Folsom is an amazing school who focuses on what's best for students. Not "all teachers" are the same, just like not "all" students are the same. If we as parents were grouped in the same category, we would not be very happy. The Principal cares about students and so does everyone else. Using names i...
